National Public Service Week (NPSW) was created in 1992, following the passage of the National Public Service Week: Serving Canadians Better Act, to recognize the importance of federal public service employees and to honour their service to Canadians. In accordance with the Act, the third week of the month of June is known as National Public Service Week in Canada. NPSW 2018 will take place from June 10 to 16.

The National Association of Federal Retirees has advocated to protect the hard-earned pensions and benefits of retired members of the federal public service, Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and retired federally appointed judges, as well as their partners and survivors since 1963.
